Playing
Which devices does Foreland run on?
iPhone, iPad and Mac, from the App Store. On Mac you need Apple silicon (M1 or later) and macOS 12 or later; Intel Macs are not supported. A Steam version for Mac and Windows is planned; Android is not available yet.
How do I play with a mouse and keyboard?
Click the map to place a call (click it again to remove it). Add moves with the buttons under the map or the keyboard: ← and → for a step, 1, 2 or 3 for a jump of that power in the direction of the last arrow, Backspace to delete the last move. Enter or Space runs the program, R takes you back to the start, H opens the hints, Tab the notebook and Esc pauses. A trackpad works the same as a mouse.
How do I change the language?
The game starts in your device’s language if that’s English or Slovak, otherwise in English. You can switch any time in the game’s Settings.
I’m stuck in a room.
Open the hints. They come in four steps, from where to look to the full solution, and the bigger ones unlock after a few minutes in the room. You can also skip a room with a skip token and come back later; the token returns when you solve it.
Purchase
Will I have to pay again for iPhone and iPad?
No. Foreland uses one purchase for iPhone, iPad and Mac. On each device, open the App Store with the same Apple Account, go to your purchases and download Foreland at no extra cost. The same goes for a second Mac.
Are there in-app purchases or ads?
No. You pay once. There are no ads, no in-app purchases and no subscription. Stars you earn in the game buy items in the Wardrobe; they can’t be bought with money.
I got a new Mac. How do I get the game back?
Download it again from the Mac App Store with the same Apple Account; you won’t be charged again. Migration Assistant or a Time Machine backup also brings the game’s saved progress along.
How do I get a refund?
Purchases are handled by Apple. Request a refund at reportaproblem.apple.com.
Saved progress
Where is my progress saved?
Only on the device you play on. The game never goes online, so progress does not sync between your iPhone, iPad and Mac. Each device keeps its own.
What deletes my progress?
On iPhone and iPad, deleting the game deletes its progress (unless you restore from a backup). On a Mac, progress stays in the game’s folder in your Library until you delete that folder. Updates never delete progress.
I played the TestFlight beta. Will my progress carry over?
Thanks for testing! The beta has ended. Its progress may not carry over, so expect to start fresh with the App Store version.
